UB Diving students training from dive boat in British Columbia cold-water conditions

PADI OPEN WATER DIVER

$995 Includes Dry Suit Certification

Learn to dive in real Pacific Northwest ocean conditions with professional cold-water instruction, boat-based training, dry suit certification, and serious diver development from one of British Columbia's most experienced cold-water diving operations.

This Is Real Cold-Water Diver Training

UB Diving is not a tropical certification factory. We train divers for real Vancouver Island ocean conditions from day one. Students develop practical cold-water skills, dry suit competency, buoyancy control, situational awareness, and genuine ocean confidence in the environments they will actually dive after certification.

Our students are introduced to real-world Pacific Northwest diving culture, expedition operations, marine conditions, underwater environments, and operational diving habits that create capable confident divers instead of simply producing certification cards.

For more than 26 years, UB Diving has trained divers throughout British Columbia's cold-water marine environments. Our instruction is influenced by commercial diving, expedition operations, technical diving, marine operational experience, and mentorship connected to world-renowned rebreather instructor Dr. Mel Clark.

A Major Difference Most New Divers Notice Immediately

UB Diving is currently the only dive shop in the Courtenay and Comox Valley region operating dedicated dive boats for local scuba training, expeditions, and charter operations.

Most local diver training requires long drives to distant shore diving locations, often spending large portions of the day transporting students, carrying heavy gear long distances, and dealing with crowded shore entries.

UB Diving students often train directly from our dive vessels, allowing efficient access to local dive sites without the added time, fatigue, and expense of long-distance shore diving logistics.

Our custom dive vessels, Good Vibrations and Skydiver, were built specifically for serious Pacific Northwest cold-water diving operations with heated cabins, onboard toilets, diver lifts, expedition capability, and layouts optimized for scuba diving comfort and safety.

No other local dive shop offers this level of operational capability.

Real Ocean Experience

UB Diving scuba students practicing PADI Open Water skills in cold-water conditions

Training begins in the pool where students develop comfort, control, buoyancy, equipment familiarity, and dry suit skills before progressing into ocean dives around Vancouver Island.

Ocean training dives are conducted at carefully selected local dive sites chosen for safety, conditions, visibility, marine life, and student progression.

These are not artificial resort conditions. This is real Pacific Northwest diving where students build practical experience that prepares them for charters, expeditions, advanced diving, underwater photography, and future cold-water exploration.

You do not buy certification. You earn it.
