UB Diving provides professional commercial diving services throughout Vancouver Island and British Columbia, supporting shellfish aquaculture, geoduck aquaculture, underwater inspections, marine construction, vessel husbandry, mooring systems, salvage operations, underwater recovery, maintenance diving, and specialized marine projects.

Founded and operated by Sean Smyrichinsky, UB Diving is built on decades of practical marine experience, vessel operations, cold-water diving, commercial project support, and hands-on problem solving in British Columbia’s coastal environment.

Sean has been heavily involved in geoduck aquaculture since 2010 and has been at the forefront of innovation, research, development, and practical field systems that are now standard of the industry. UB Diving has helped build geoduck farms for First Nations, private investors, and coastal development groups.

This work has included broodstock collection, nursery innovation, grow-out site installation, underwater construction support, site maintenance, system development, operational troubleshooting, and practical field adaptation across many different geoduck aquaculture systems.

Few, if any, dive contractors have Sean’s depth of practical experience across as many geoduck aquaculture systems, from broodstock collection to nursery development and full grow-out site installation.

Commercial diving operations are managed by Joe Conway, UB Diving’s Commercial Diving Operations Manager. Joe brings more than fourteen years of commercial construction diving experience gained throughout Canada and internationally.

Joe’s background includes underwater welding, burning, salvage operations, marine construction support, vessel husbandry, inspections, underwater recovery, and complex underwater work in demanding marine environments.

Joe’s connection to UB Diving began long before commercial diving. He grew up around the operation, worked in the dive shop as a teenager, completed his first scuba training through UB Diving, and later attended commercial dive school before building a successful international career in commercial construction diving.

Today, Joe leads field operations for UB Diving’s commercial division while working alongside Sean and the broader UB Diving team. The result is a commercial diving operation that combines Sean’s long-term marine and aquaculture knowledge with Joe’s professional commercial diving experience and field leadership.
