Sean Smyrichinsky
Owner / Expedition Operator / Cold-Water Diving Specialist
Sean Smyrichinsky is the owner of UB Diving and has spent decades working throughout British Columbia’s cold-water marine environment as a commercial diver, expedition operator, scuba instructor, vessel captain, and professional equipment service technician.
Raised around the waters of Northern Vancouver Island and the Port Hardy region, Sean grew up fishing, boating, and diving along the rugged British Columbia coastline while learning the ropes of commercial fishing and marine operations from his father at a young age. Those early years helped shape the practical marine knowledge and cold-water experience that continue to define UB Diving today.
With more than 26 years in the diving industry, Sean has developed a reputation throughout Vancouver Island and British Columbia for professional cold-water diving operations, regulator servicing, technical diving support, and real-world marine experience.
Sean services regulators using genuine factory parts, returning equipment Nitrox clean and fully documented. His experience spans recreational diving, technical diving, rebreather support, commercial diving operations, underwater recovery, aquaculture support, vessel operations, and expedition diving throughout British Columbia.
Sean Smyrichinsky received international media attention following the discovery of a mysterious Cold War-era object off the coast of Vancouver Island in 2016, further highlighting his extensive experience operating in remote Pacific marine environments.
As captain of the custom expedition dive vessel Good Vibrations, Sean leads divers to legendary British Columbia dive environments including Nanaimo wreck diving, Browning Pass, God’s Pocket Marine Park, and Vancouver Island cold-water reef systems.
UB Diving was built around real-world cold-water marine experience combining elite scuba training, professional equipment support, expedition operations, and dependable service for serious divers exploring British Columbia’s underwater world.
