PADI 5 Star Dive Center • Courtenay BC • Vancouver Island
The PADI Deep Diver course teaches the skills, procedures and planning techniques needed to safely explore deeper dive sites. Learn about deep-diving equipment considerations, gas management, buddy procedures and risk awareness while expanding your underwater adventures beyond recreational entry-level limits.
Some of Vancouver Island's most spectacular dive sites begin where shallow dives end. Whether you're exploring deeper sections of reefs, walls, shipwrecks, artificial reefs, or preparing for advanced adventures throughout British Columbia, the Deep Diver course provides the knowledge and confidence needed to dive deeper safely and responsibly.
Our instructors did not gain their certifications through warm-water zero-to-hero instructor mills. Students learn from experienced British Columbia dive professionals with commercial, military, technical and expedition diving backgrounds, gaining practical deep-diving knowledge that applies directly to real-world cold-water diving throughout Vancouver Island and beyond.

Go Beyond Recreational Entry-Level Diving
The PADI Deep Diver course is designed for divers who want to safely explore deeper dive sites and experience parts of the underwater world that many recreational divers never reach. Many of Vancouver Island's most spectacular walls, wrecks and marine habitats begin below traditional recreational training depths. Deep Diver certification opens the door to exploring these environments while helping you understand the additional considerations associated with deeper diving.

Real-World Applications
The skills learned during the Deep Diver course are used every day by divers exploring Vancouver Island's deeper walls, reefs and wrecks. Many students combine Deep Diver certification with Enriched Air Nitrox Diver and Wreck Diver training to maximize bottom time and expand diving opportunities.
Deep Diver certification is particularly valuable for divers interested in the Nanaimo Wreck Trek, advanced recreational diving, and exploring the deeper side of Vancouver Island Cold-Water Diving.
How to Become a Deep Diver
When you dive below 18 metres / 60 feet, additional planning, awareness and safety considerations become increasingly important. Your instructor will help you develop the skills and confidence needed to safely explore depths of up to 40 metres / 130 feet while maintaining proper gas management, buoyancy control and situational awareness.
Training includes practical deep-diving experience and focuses on building confidence through supervised dives in real-world conditions.
Continue Your Diving Adventure
After completing the Deep Diver course, many divers continue into Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and advanced specialty training while exploring deeper dive sites throughout British Columbia.
Put your new skills to work aboard one of our Dive Vessels, explore Vancouver Island's deeper underwater environments, and continue building your diving experience through local charters and advanced recreational diving opportunities.
