The PADI Wreck Diver course teaches the skills needed to safely explore shipwrecks, artificial reefs and other submerged structures while expanding your diving knowledge and experience. Our instructors did not gain their certifications through warm-water zero-to-hero instructor mills.
Students learn from experienced British Columbia dive professionals with commercial, military, technical and expedition diving backgrounds, gaining practical wreck-diving knowledge that applies directly to real-world diving throughout Vancouver Island and beyond.

The PADI Wreck Diver course teaches divers how to safely explore shipwrecks, artificial reefs and other submerged structures while developing the specialized skills required for responsible wreck diving.
Wrecks are among the most fascinating dive sites in the world. They tell stories of maritime history, provide habitat for marine life, and offer unique underwater adventures that attract divers from around the globe.
At UB Diving, students learn practical wreck-diving skills in the cold-water environment of British Columbia while preparing to explore some of Vancouver Island's most famous wreck sites.

Real-World Wreck Diving on Vancouver Island
The skills learned in this course are directly applicable to some of British Columbia's best wreck-diving destinations. Many students use this training to prepare for dives on the Nanaimo Wreck Trek, including the HMCS Saskatchewan, HMCS Cape Breton and RivTow Lion artificial reefs.
Wreck diving is often combined with Enriched Air Nitrox Diver training and Deep Diver certification to maximize bottom time and expand diving opportunities.
Many divers also continue developing their skills through Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver training.
Course Requirements
If you are at least 15 years old and hold a PADI Adventure Diver certification or higher (or a qualifying certification from another training organization), you may enroll in the PADI Wreck Diver course.
- Minimum Age: 15 years old
- Prerequisite: Adventure Diver certification or higher
- Required Equipment: Personal dive light and reel
Please note: Students are required to provide their own dive light and reel for this course.
Continue Your Wreck Diving Adventure
After certification, many divers continue into Deep Diver, Nitrox Diver, and Divemaster training while exploring Vancouver Island's world-class wreck diving opportunities.
